There are several things to consider when arranging your wedding day transportation.  Whether your choice is a limousine, limo coach, trolley or classic car make sure you have done your research to ensure you have chosen the perfect vehicle and transportation company that will get you and possibly your entire wedding party to the church on time and in style.  Listed below are 10 tips to think about and questions you might ask when reserving your wedding day transportation.

1. Reserve Early
Book your wedding transportation at least three to six months in advance of your special day.  It could be to your advantage to book your transportation prior to six months or even up to 1 year if you are particular on a certain vehicle that might be in higher demand.  Certain months and weekends are in higher demand and may require longer minimum rentals.

2. Understand the Reservation Policy
The majority of limousine companies have a minimum number of hours that is required.  Never cut yourself short on time.  It is encouraged that you consider extending your reservation in advance if you feel it might be necessary, since transportation companies can’t guarantee that the vehicle will be available to you beyond the reserved time. In making a reservation the standard industry practice is a non-refundable deposit to hold the vehicle with the balance due the week of the wedding.

3. Method of Payment
Does your transportation company accept credit cards? If not, they may be only a part-time company.

4. Know What You Are Getting
It is your wedding, be specific regarding your objectives. Quality transportation operators can make suggestions, but you should always make the final decisions. Ask what the standard uniform attire is for their chauffeurs.

5. Have Enough Room
Avoid booking a vehicle that may be too tight or small.  Ask the transportation company how many people the vehicle can comfortably seat.  Make sure to allow enough room for the bride and bridesmaids dresses.

6. Ask About Insurance and Licensing
Limousine Companies are required to carry “livery vehicle” commercial insurance and be registered with MN Department of Transportation. The chauffeurs must meet all state driving requirements and back ground checks.

7. The Cheapest Is Not Always the Best
Never settle for a vehicle with the lowest cost without seeing it first. The cost may be lower because the vehicle may be under maintained, resulting in the possibility of it being unreliable.  Lower priced rentals may result in an operator that may have lower standards which could result to a vehicle not showing up on time or may be dirty with an unprofessional chauffeur not in proper attire.

8. Ask What Comes Included In the Wedding Package
Verify what the transportation company includes in their wedding package.  Most companies provide Red Carpet Service, “Just Married” Banner, Glasses, Ice and Non- Alcoholic Champagne.  By Minnesota State Law, limousines companies are not permitted to provide alcoholic beverages, but you can bring them inside the vehicle if you choose.

9. Request to See Company’s Vehicles
You do not what to be surprised on your wedding day by an older stretch limousine when you are expecting a newer model.  Ask to see the exact vehicle you will be renting.

10. Ask For a Signed & Valid Rental Service Contract
First class limousine operators will provide you with a written agreement assuring you that you are securing the exact service and limousine you requested. This will ensure no surprises on your Wedding Day.
